Return Mormon Missionaries and Rock Stars?!

Being a return Mormon missionary and finding people with whom to play wholesome rock and roll is a very hard thing to do. Cabbages & Kings really is a perfect storm in that each member served an LDS mission AND can play rock with the best of them. Even with their generational differences, this foursome has blended their love for music and to share their talents into a concert performance that will help everyone "have joy."

Ryan Winterton, drummer, tells it like it is. His Mom, he says, "took a chance and rented a drum set for a month to see if her son had any rhythmic skills. That month turned into many and the rest is history." Ryan's drum style lies somewhere between Lars Ulrich and Carter Beauford, which adds a very unique dynamic to the band.

Paul Winterton, also known as "the keyboard kid," has been mixing his virtuosity at the classical keyboard with honky tonk and screaming blues for years. He was a piano performance major at the University of Utah and supports his love for hard-driving classic rock and roll with his day job, as orthopedic surgeon in Sandy, Utah.

Zack has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old, starting off by learning old Led Zepplin tunes with his Dad. With influences ranging from Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Joe Walsh, to Dave Matthews and Kirk Hammett, Zack loves and listens to a wide variety of music and will play just about everything. He'll tell you that his father, of all of those who've shaped his talent and interest, has been his biggest musical influence.

Dave Golden's love of music began in 1964 when the Beatles took the Ed Sullivan stage on black and white TV. His musical interests have since become eclectic and he finds great satisfaction in playing and listening to diverse musical genres. The Cabbages & Kings partnership has become a dream come true - playing great music with great people!
